Sadly, allergic to cats and no time for a dog right now. Probably told this story somewhere in Gocomics before, but anyway…

My allergies didn’t stop me from rescuing an itty bitty cutest kitten ever from the side of a road near where I live this spring. If it wasn’t for my allergies it would have been really tempting to keep him. However, his age really meant he wasn’t ready to spend long days alone yet, and by the time I changed into another shirt, I knew I had to let him go. Thankfully, the no kill shelter near me was able to take him in. Unsurprisingly, he became a failed foster, as the volunteer that was fostering him until he was old enough to place, adopted him herself. :) It’s quite possible by now he’s learned to lay down on the keyboard for attention. :D

I sent the shelter about $250 of kitten food for their efforts.

Good plug for the shelter. Lots of loving kitties and puppies need a home!

All my cats- over the years- have been strays or shelter cats.

We had 11 cats rule our house over the years. They all found us, or were shelter babies. Our two dogs were also adopted, not bred. Tho the Goldie-Lab was from a litter of 6 that were the result of Diamond Back Jack the Goldie, & Misty Snickers the Yellow Lab having a Romeo & Juliet romance!!!

We took in a stray who ruled our house for nearly ten years. But he got very sick really quickly and we had to put him to sleep last Christmas. We stayed with him through his last moments. But the house felt so empty without a feline overlord, that we went to a local shelter to adopt a cat. We came home with two adorable half-grown kittens! Somehow or other, they’re both now incredibly spoiled . . . no idea how that happened, lol.

I am trying to break our HOA rules of one pet, since several people who don’t walk their pets have them anyway. I am technically allowed to get a service dog, but I can’t find anyone with a reasonable price who can get me a dog. I could train one myself, with assistance from a licensed trainer, but I can’t take in a dog unless it’s a service dog. HOAs have too much power, at least in my state. I do qualify for a PTSD dog, but I was not in the service, so they are very hard for me to get. I do so much better with two dogs. I am now allergic to cats after a lifetime of having a house with plenty of cats and dogs. Since I trained my therapy dog, I can show that I have the skills to train a dog.

Big talk from Uncle Jack, who lives rent free with his Mom and does no work. He can’t even purr.
