I grew up in an old house that had originally had a round turret room on the SE corner over an open porch. It was torn down about 30 years before I was born and replaced by a flat “tin” roof and the 2nd story room was turned into an enclosed porch with windows on both sides. The room had an old wrought-iron twin bed and storage for our toys and crafts. During storms we would fight over who got to sleep out there where we could hear the rain pounding on the roof and watch the lightening through the trees.
Husband and I were sitting on the floor in front of a sliding glass door, watching a lightening show in Florida, when a bolt hit the metal deck railing, throwing us backwards. It took out several electronics in the house.
Thunderstorms are really God’s laser light show. I’m enjoying another such spectacle. It’s the glorious colors of n autumn afternoon in the hills of Missouri
I completely disagree with today’s comic. Thunderstorms can be killers. Anyone who has deliberately stayed out in one is pushing their luck. I am baffled by golfers who stay out playing, people walking around or staring at the “show” like this guy, staying in a swimming pool, etc. I’ve known a couple of people who were struck by lightning and survived, and they didn’t stay out in storms after that! A sad situation was a friend of my brother’s whose horse was killed by lightning.

It’s not wise to watch those kind of fireworks out in the open.

I love thunderstorms, but we rarely get them around here. Even when we do, it’s FLASH BOOM, end of show.

When it thunders , I go in. I heard a long time ago. If you can hear thunder you can be sure there’s lightning . Don’t play with Mother Nature!

I normally sit on a covered porch during a big storm to watch.

Would love to see the Aurora Borealis. Now that is God’s ultimate light show!

Could be dangerous with the amount of metal in their hips, knees, and shoulders.
