My parents put the silverware (it wasn’t silver) to the right of my plate. I, holding my right wrist with my left hand, moved my silverware (they wisely didn’t trust me with a knife) to the left side of my plate and began using the utensils with my left hand. My parents learned their lesson, didn’t bother me again, and I remain left handed.
My leftie father was severely disciplined in school for using the “wrong” hand. As a result, he developed his own handwriting style – a combination of Art Deco and Comic Sans. I could read his handwriting, but most other people found it difficult. OTOH, my brother (righty) and my son (lefty) both have dysgraphia and NO one can read their handwriting.
At one point, a study concluded that being left-handed resulted in a shorter lifespan. A closer look revealed that the period where some schools converted lefties resulted in anomalous numbers when they got older.

Cut Avis some slack. She had to live her whole life being known as #2.

Avis is such a big baby. Age really doesn’t matter once you are passed 21 years old.
