And Tomoya Okazaki of Clannad met Nagisa Furukawa’s parents pretty much after T&N met each other and had dinner together. While Nagisa wasn’t parentally embarrassed, Tomoya felt out of place and didn’t think wacky, loving families like hers existed to which Nagisa said it seemed pretty normal for her.

To be fair, if John and Elly were the ones who paid for Michael’s clothing, then it is their right to dispose of it. That was theirs, just as the house, sports car, Farley, Michael, Elizabeth and April are all property of John and Elly and can be bought, sold, or disposed of whenever their owners wish.
