True. The regular season consists of 162 games solely for for playoff seeding, revenue generation and players in the walk year of their contract (e.g., Aaron Judge).
I can’t help but see a lucrative business in sports. There are managers and athletes with big fat bank accounts to think about while watching the “the fun” of games. Of course, there’s also the fun of watching your kid in minor league that’s enjoyable for some.
But to at least one sportscaster, the championship was fleeting. Back in 1992, the year after the Minnesota Twins won their second championship in what’s been called the Greatest of all Time, they weren’t doing very well. One Minnesota sportscaster had the gall to sum up their sorry situation with, “And what do we call the Twinkies?”
How about “the current World Champs,” doofus? Or does the title evaporate next opening day? Miss America retains her title until her successor is crowned. The President of the United States is still President until his successor is sworn in. So why wouldn’t the World Champions be the World Champions until the next World Series is over?
I love baseball. Especially the playoffs and the World Series. The ballparks, the strategy, the calm quiet pace of the game with the sudden excitement of a ball in play. Pitching duels, home run sluggers. The defensive skills . Yeah, it’s not for everyone. And there is Hockey and football and rugby, soccer Ect., for all who need more action. I enjoy those too. But baseball is special. It can be really great to just settle in and watch the game.I think it must be hard to appreciate if you never played baseball or softball growing up.As someone else has mentioned, little league, high school and college games are often the best! Yay Playoffs! Yay World Series!
You missed making the playoffs by a single game? You lost the final game of the season?
Was the loss in the final game of the season the one that kept you from making the playoffs, was it the loss in the opening game of the season, or is the loss that ended your season one of the other 50 (or more) games where your opponent left the field the winner?

When you go to a baseball game, you have an outing and an inning at the same time.

I thought the regular season was one long instant replay. Oh wait, that’s the NFL.
