Yeah, anybody who worked on a keyboard for several decades probably doesn’t like wearing a watch. I have a smartwatch on its charger by the stairs so i’ll remember to put it on when i travel. Of course, now it’s an invisible part of the decor so i forget it.
I don’t need a timer for a nap. But recently we discovered a cool feature of our watches. Someone was eating at a restaurant and started to choke on some food. They struggled to catch their breath and their heartrate jumped up. The watch sent out an SOS to their two I.C.E. contacts.
I have a Timex – it is the second one of the same watch. First one lasted for over 2 decades before it died – it is a battery watch and the battery was replaced a few times over the decades.
It needed a new battery again and we bought one – at the beginning of March 2020. The battery is still sitting on my jewelry box. I figured why use up the battery if I don’t need a watch (have obviously not worn it during the pandemic). I need it when I need to check the time easily while out either to do something or to meet husband. When we go out during the pandemic we stay together and we go out rarely – only when we need to – we have clocks in almost room in the house so don’t need the watch when in the house.
We did replace the battery in my “pocket watch” that I use for reenacting as we did 2 outdoor events this year (husband does weaving demonstrations at some events and sells items and we could use the money). ( It hangs from my petticoat (skirt) string to make it easy to use – back in the 18th c this was common.)
I have ICE contacts listed in all of my cell phones. Since with husband almost all the time, I have my sisters listed also as chances are if it is needed – his ICE will be needed also.

I set my wristwatches’ alarms for twelve o’clock noon so I know it’s noon.

Of course I wear a watch ! Best way to know the time of day. Each chore gets so much time and then I move on ;-)
