My experience exactly. I remember having to wear gloves to a friend’s birthday party when I was about 8 or 9 (this was California, and it wasn’t really very cold). Of course I didn’t want to wear them and unfortunately I lost one of the gloves. She ended up calling the parents of all my friends looking for the glove (talk about embarrassing for me!). She still hadn’t gotten over the infamous lost glove incident decades later!
On a related note, there is a bit in my family’s old home movies from the mid 1950’s where we are having a picnic. It looks like a nice sunny day. I’m little more than a toddler and all bundled up; my mother is wearing a long overcoat and trousers; and my father is in shirtsleeves.

I would’ve been wearing them all summer?
Did your house have AC? Lucky you.

My hands always got cold on their own. I never understood how everyone else was so much warmer than me. Still don’t.

As a woman of a certain age, I don’t understand how my body can feel like it’s on fire but my feet still feel like ice cubes.

A sweater is something you put on when your mother is cold. “Go put on a sweater, this house is freezing”

My favorite dialog on this topic, between my mother and me, went as follows:
Mom (as I’m heading outside): Where are your gloves?
Me: They’re in my pockets.
Mom: Well, they’ll keep your pockets warm.
