In a war movie, an inventive GI, desperate for booze, rigged a way to distill a potion from some awful stuff. He offered some to a buddy, who refused. Bootlegger pointed his rifle at him and told him to drink, which he wisely did, then made a really ugly face at the taste. BL then handed him the rifle and said, ‘now you hold it on me and make me drink.’

Clearly, inflation is nothing new.

Prior to the most recent spike, current prices were roughly ten times those of the 60’s.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I remember 1972. Hamburger prices skyrocketed up to $0.69 a pound and there was practically rioting in the streets. Some group called for a nationwide meat boycott. I don’t think it ever happened, although that was the start of meatless Monday or whatever day of the week they chose.
