We to an amusement place with the grands that had a lot of retro games and such. There was an old rotary phone on display and it was fun watching them try to figure out how to dial a number.
When you had to walk the tree covered path, then along the neighbor’s fence, to your friends house to talk. and share some milk and cookies. It now seems like a fairy tale. Unfortunately.
Similar to the time my grandfather telling us how they crank-started automobiles by sticking a piece of metal in the front grill and winding it up. Or HIS grandfather telling him how real men commuted on horseback and not in tushy cars. Get over it guy, and let evolution take its course.
this is the new narrative device, to excuse plot twists written by people who grew up without cell phones. I look forward to stories by the younger generation whose narrative tension does not rely on being unable to text or call.

Cell phones and social media – the party line redux. Just a wider audience, and in many cases less useful.

Cell phone is an antiquated term too. It’s just “phone” now for most of us.

I remember when telephone signals came through a wire in the wall and television signals came over the air.

Once upon a time before cable news there were things called newspapers that people had to know how to read.
