Recently ran into a new gimmick in a fast food joint. Checkout screen asked if I wanted to ‘round up’ to the nearest dollar – about 9 cents more. I thought at first it was a joke, then realized the idiots were serious. I’m supposed to offer to voluntarily pay more for a product which is already above current market price? R-i-i-i-g-h-t. It’s a business not a charity.

Tipping is a curse, especially when it’s mandatory.

I remember when tipping was 10%. In Europe you don’t tip (or round up if you choose) because they pay their servers properly.
