The third one is accurate. In distance running you’ve done all the running you want to do after about 100m, and the rest of the distance is spent coming up with increasingly implausible reasons to not stop.
But I would never buy a book written by the friends of someone who clearly believes in standing on escalators. Is there anything lazier than standing on an escalator rather than dramatically speeding up that journey by walking up or down? (And even for the unfathomably lazy, wouldn’t a successful elevator trip involve at least two steps?)
Horace needs to move on past the beginners. He is so lazy. Not a normal Houyhnhnm’s behavior but then he is missing his ectospider implant that gives the horse people their logic and dispassionate mien.

26.2 miles in 40,000 steps? Pretty long stride!
