That’s fair. At least he was honest. Have him put his shoes away and then drop the issue.

Somehow reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbes strip where Calvin’s walking through the house in muddy shoes and his mother (offscreen) says that she hopes he remembered to take off his shoes. “Of course I remembered,” replied Calvin as he was taking off the shoes, “you don’t have to remind me all the time.”

I heard you. I forgot. I have no good excuse. Please have mercy on me.

Kevin: “Besides, I don’t care, and there’s nothing you can do to me, anyway.”

My old lady keeps nagging me about leaving my shoes on the front door carpet, even though her shoes are there more than mine.

I often told my students, “that’s a reason, not an excuse”. BSheut it is still good to know the reason. As far as shoes go, we used to have them kick off in the mud room. When family came to visit, figure two pair of shoes apiece, I just had to make peace with the mess near the door.

I’m hearing Steve Martin’s voice, coming out of Kevin’s mouth." I Forgot!",

We are forgetful when we are young, and then again when we are older.
