I like the old-fashioned way. IRS says, “What did you earn last year? Any left? Good – send it in!”

I have an accountant (family friend) do my taxes. I don’t get much of a refund, but that’s better than paying more taxes.

But I thought Cathy had an accountant that always did her taxes?

Next year at tax time, she can have a pointless argument with an AI chatbot about Boston, tea, and failed political parties. :)

I struggle through my taxes each year. Horrible system.

So one year, I was working contract a lot in several different states. It was very confusing, so I hired a guy to do my taxes. I knew I owed, but it was a lot more than I expected.

Turns out, he had me overpay Federal by about $1000 and State by about $400.

So I went back to doing my own taxes. At least if I mess up, I’m not paying someone to mess up for me.

There are two luxuries I will always allow myself: someone else does my taxes, and someone else does my laundry.

Go back to your CPA, Cathy. Without his help and expertise, I see an audit in your future!

Hey—taxes can seem overwhelming. Probably/hopefully not as much as our favorite nut-job makes them out to be, but I kinda feel for her here.
