Because keeping the gifts lets her feel better about dumping the advice.

Just because someone gave you something doesn’t mean you have to keep it forever. Chances are they forgot they gave it to you in the first place.

Because sometimes the advice is annoying or outdated? Because sometimes the gifts remind us of the good times with you? I’d be happy if my kids kept something that reminded them of me. I keep all sorts of things that remind me of them.

When I can’t remember who it’s from, I can’t throw it away because I don’t know it I’ll run into them and need to prove how much I love it.

If you could keep advice in the closet, where it would not be jumping out at you at random times, more people would keep advice from Mom.

My experience with advice is that many people find the sound of good advice comforting but will still go ahead and get that tattoo of the abusive boyfriend. :(

Because most advice is just words that you don’t really listen to. Hard to follow something that you don’t remember hearing.
