A pineapple plant will shrivel and die if it sees so much as one snowflake. Why do you think they’re grown in Hawaii?!

Hang on a bit Agnes, the climate you need for growing pineapples is on the way….sooner than expected.

soon agnes will learn that faith requires better odds…

driving along in blustery, snowy conditions in early february, we were amused to see workers unrolling sod on a section where construction had apparently been completed. by summer, the sod had actually started growing. maybe there’s hope for agnes’ pineapple pods…

One winter we had a greens patch. Insects had started to eat the leaves, so I knew the end was near. Then it snowed.

I told Daddy I figured that was the end of the crop. He disagreed and promised I was about to see the prettiest crop ever.

Over three days the snow slowly melted, watering the plants and freezing the insects. Sunlight continued to reach the plants. Sho’ ’nuf, it was full of beautiful green leaves when the snow was gone.

    Life is good.

    (Dead bugs are too.)
