I walk past the gym, on my way to the grocery store … to which I have walked from my home a half-mile away, hauling my “old-lady-cart” that I use to carry my purchases.

A bad health result from her physician might change her mind. Been there.

I work out every day on the floor next to my bed. I also have several walking routes, all paved and lit. If I had to commute to a gym, I would not do it.

Some folks feel threatened by the germ clouds that form inside there. However, Planet Fitness offers a reasonable monthly rate.

There is a series of 5-7 exercises one can do at home to tone one’s physique and maintain good muscle tone. No special equipment needed, just what’s available. Set your own pace and time. No longer have the url but there a dozens of similar healthy, inexpensive activities online.

And to repeat an old adage for those just passing middle age: a wise person will use his/her 50’s to prepare for her/his 60’s, when the docs and the meds start to show up on the a la carte menu for the future.

Get your exercise by briskly walking to the gym, right past it and stopping for a ‘smallish’ ice cream on the way home.

The great outdoors is the ultimate exercise venue. No germs, no sweaty machines, and no judgmental stares from strangers.
