You shouldn’t have decided to ride your bike to work until you had gotten used to it by riding a bit every day to strengthen yourself. By the time you get to work now you will be exhausted and your leg muscles will ache all day.
The first few hundred yards are the worst. You have to ignore the voice in your head that yells “Go back, go back!” Or is that just me? But you won’t get sweaty if you go at a reasonable pace and don’t try to be a boy racer.
Anyone who is using a bike like that for significant riding (on asphalt or concrete) needs to get smooth tires. Big tires still, but without the lugs. It’s amazing how much easier they roll. And stop. And go around curves.
If he’s really going that slowly, I don’t know how he’s still keeping that bike upright then, as in my experience, bikes generally stop staying balanced when going that slow.
Where’s the 200 other bicyclists that continue clogging our roads??? These people should pay the same as the rest of us, license, registrations, insurance, road toll and tax etc!
