I remember one time when there was a massive round of redundancies. One department had 6 managers with 12 employees. After the redundancies, there were 6 managers and 6 employees – so one manager per worker. The irony was that one of those made redundant was sacked for taking 1 day a week off sick due to an issue he had, but actually did about 6 days’ work in the 4 days he was actually there. Mental
The executives killed the last place I worked before retiring. They borrowed a billion dollars on the company to fund stock buybacks for themselves. This was just before the big financial crash happened. They couldn’t even pay the interest on the loan so they laid off 26% of the employees – followed shortly by selling the whole place. There are still chips in many devices that have the National Semiconductor label. They had a huge chunk of the jelly bean chip market.

As you can see, the difference is that the employees keep coming back.

Our managers live on the 7th floor, never see them on the 4th floor where my office is. That’s a good thing.

These must be doors to the restrooms. The one on the left leads to a throne, the one in the middle is a bidet. The employees is a hole in the floor.

Don’t let the centrifugal force fling you too far from the building.
