Overtime pay? What’s that?

The Chief’s soon is a lot shorter than anyone else’s.

“Soon” is relative.

Office workers didn’t get overtime pay at the places that I’ve worked.

I was asked to work through my planned holidays on a rush job. As an incentive, the client offered to give me enough frequent flyer points to fly to Hawaii with my wife. After the job was finished, my boss nixed the offer, saying, “We don’t do business that way.”

“You talkin’ to me?”

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest: “OK campers, rise and shine!” Wait … that was yesterday … I hope.

Chief is, well…um….The Chief.

I sometimes go to sleep with a work problem in my head and wake up in the morning with the solution. Perhaps I should put in an overtime claim

Well, Brutus blew that one. He could’ve been satisfied with extra hours and bossman’s gratitude, but NOOO, he had to have even more gravy. Now, he’ll be lucky to get the future gratitude bossman promised.

I had a boss who wanted me to travel 5 hours to another city for a meeting on my day off. He said they would give 25 cents a mile but no pay. I told him thanks, but I won’t go. We did not have a good working relationship after that. He kept finding ways to punish me. I finally retired.

the last company i worked for before happily going freelance was more than happy to dock us pay for arriving late in the morning, but never gave any thought to overtime for entertaining customers after hours (which is pretty much mandatory in the japanese business world)…
