I’ve been a judge at MindGames. You have to learn, play, and judge 30 games in a weekend. Lots of fun but hard work as well, and tense trying to finish all. Reading all the rules after a while can make you glaze over.
The absolute worst board game I ever played was “Dune.” We literally spent an entire evening going over all the rules. Next time we got together? Rules refresher and setting up the board. Over an hour later we got to play! The game went on for something like 8 hours, people were falling asleep at the table. We ended it over the game owners objections. He insisted we play again the next time we got together and we fools agreed… only to have someone win in the very first round due to an unpredictable confluence of events. The only game I find more objectionable than “Dune” is “Fluxx,” but I was taught how to play “Fluxx” by a jerk who decided he didn’t like me for some reason so it might just be bad associations, IDK.

your punishment is to play the game now (and I’m sure it won’t take long as Monopoly does)

Cute all the way around but the look on your face in the first panel, coming through the glasses, is precious.

What did former basketball coach Red Holzman famously say? Everyone wants to get to heaven, but no one wants to die to get there.
