No, dad. You walk from room to room, looking in drawers, behind pictures on the wall, and on the ceiling, saying, âWhereâs Wren? I canât find her.â Then after two minutes, you give up, she pops out and you are astonished at how well she hid. Get with the program.
One of my daughters did a similar thing once when playing Hide-âN-Seek. After I had counted ten, I saw her sitting on the floor at the end of the couch with her eyes covered. She though if she couldnât see me, I couldnât see her. Hold over from playing âPeek-a-booâ I think. I played a along and spoke as I looked in totally ridiculous places to which she giggled. After âfindingâ her, I explained the error of her belief. She did a lot better hiding the next time around.
Darrell is a poor sport. He doesnât know the joy of pretending he doesnât see his baby girl hiding. I remember my sister saying âWhereâs Tammy? I canât see her anywhereâ then looking all over my room while I lay under my bed covers with my tummy sucked in trying not to giggle. Best day ever.
When my sister was 3 she loved to hide behind a door to jump out yelling BOO! My stepmom would feign a heart attack and baby sis ran away giggling. Then Mor Mor- grandma, came to visit from Denmark. Baby sis tried the âboo!â game with her.. Mor mor thought she was a horrid child.

Darryl, come on man, everyone knows hide and seek with a toddler is more of an acting job rather than an actual game. Give the kid a break already.

My four-year old granddaughter explained to me, âSince you canât hide, Iâll do all the hiding.â
Very thoughtful.
