Scott, your party has been telling us that poor people are only poor because they’re lazy and not as GOOD as we are. For DECADES now.
Homeless people are all dangerous criminals. Desperate Central Americans just want to sell drugs. “There but for the grace of God go I” is a sentiment that’s LONG gone.
And that’s pushed by the party that makes a constant public show of piety and says “Jesus Jesus Jesus” all the time.
And it STARTED with the 40th President of the United States, St. Ronald of Hollywood.
The Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, etc, State governments all appear to be lacking in empathy for anyone they consider an ‘other’…
And all too often, they appear to be lacking empathy for their own voters….
Unfortunately the right wing nutters consider empathy a weakness. They call empathy “wokeness”. Everything that has anything to do with showing compassion for fellow human beings is labeled “woke”, which has become a dirty word to the right.

Step one to ensure empathy is responsibility to one’s society. Big difference between honest mistakes and deliberate actions
