Would Mr. P. lose fewer in the water if that’s what he aimed for?

He is condemned to lose his golf balls for eternity. The water hazard gods do not suffer fools kindly. To retrieve your own ball shows a contrite spirit. He who humbly finds his own lost ball and gratefully rescues the poorly struck pill himself shall realize the depth of his poor swing capabilities and replenish his golfing soul. But he who pays annother to steal the balls directly from the minor Dimple gods Gutta, Balata, and Surlyn condemns himself and will continuously send offerings to a watery grave for ever and ever.

I quit playing golf when I realized I was having more fun retrieving balls lost by me and others (it reminded me of an Easter egg hunt). That, and too many (bleeping) rules. Best club in my bag (after my hand wedge)? My retrieval tool. Golf is a four-letter word (grin).

I had to give up golf, for health reasons, but it’s quite disheartening to see the obnoxious, destructive behavior some people engage in on the course, just for “likes” online.
