I don’t speak that much French let alone sports talk. While I did play football/soccer as a little boy, I don’t think I ever remember the phrase “carte blanche.”

Would’ve been better if it were Andy who made the ignorant gaffe.

I could be wrong, but I assume carte blanche means “do whatever the heck you want to do” in this case.

With guys like that on your team, Andy, you’re doomed.
