IMO, the Sunday poems are where the Calvin and Hobbes influence becomes most obvious.

True love being OK with someone drooling on you in their sleep. However, that is usually a small child doing the drooling…..

This is why we love this ‘toon so much: While Marigold is a typical Unicorn, she rises above herself when it comes to her little friend, the young human who, when all is said and done, still needs caring for. We’d all like a friend like that!
