Ah high school English class, I remember is so well. Our teacher assigned us to read 1500 pages worth of books and do written an oral reports on each book read. I went to the library and checked out War And Peace and read it in two weeks. The edition of War And Peace in the Library was 1600+ pages long. Two weeks reading, wrote the report that weekend, handed it in on Monday as well as giving the oral presentation and I was done for the rest of the semester. Best English Class ever and came away with an A.
When I took the SAT, it had a question about the characters in a particular “classic” book. I had never read that one, but someone in my class had presented a book report on it the day before, so I was able to answer the question.

Now many of today’s teens brag, yes, brag about not ever having read a book.

Now I’m going to have that reoccurring dream tonight about having a test that I totally forgot to study for.

Now an AI program can tell you summaries of the books. Why read when somebody else can do it for you?

I have zero sympathy for Peter. Pay the consequences, moron.

Currently reading: The Scarlet Letter. Which was never assigned to me back when I was in high school. (Waaaay too many commas!)

I still enjoy reading but I will admit that I use an i-Pad to do so, makes it easier to not disturb the wife.

Every lit class instructor I’ve had since high school would write questions covering information NOT contained in Cliff Notes and Spark Notes. heheh

Some people aren’t cut out for college. Not that I think Peter would do much better in trade school.

The problem with CliffsNotes is that the teachers can also buy a copy to ensure the it doesn’t have the answer to any of the test questions.
