I grew up poor and always had to scavenge to keep my things running smoothly from all of the cars I used to drive to all of my appliances.

Today in a disposable society where things are cheaply replaced it is really hard to let go of the mentality I grew up with.

So they can call me a hoarder all they like at 2 in the morning if something fails I will likely have the parts to fix it in my junk drawer or garage.

The only time you ever really need any of that stuff is one week after you throw it away.

He’s one to talk about clutter.

Add a scissor and a screwdriver and that’s exactly what’s in MY kitchen junk drawer.

It kinda is a good thing, Michael. These are Kate’s memories. Would you appreciate being asked to throw away yours?

It’s not hoarding. It’s being frugal, saving & careful of your resources & income. This whole disposable thing we’ve got going is really hard to adjust to b/c most of us were raised to be careful & learned to repair it ourselves or get it repaired. But things are so cheaply made now, that it’s practically impossible to repair them for less money than buying a new one, which will go belly up too soon…lather, rinse, repeat, ad nauseum, ad infinitum!

He will sing a different tune when he grows up and has a clutter drawer of his own. It’s pretty much a universal thing, some are simply better organized than others with the determining factor being, can you actually find something you are looking for in there?
