This kinda contradicts the September 06, 2021 comic, where Gene complained he spends more time grounded as a parent than as a kid, while Donna admitted she was rotten in her childhood.

The courtship and wedding must have been interesting.

Oh, if his mother only knew what Gene was getting up to with Donna behind closed doors. He’d never be allowed to leave the house again

And of course, there’s still the issue of him blowing 3 grand on a TV. I can see his allowance getting revoked on that one…

This happened to me once. Mom grounded me for something, and as time went on she forgot about it.

But think of the money he’s saved on greens fees.

Gene must have had a lousy childhood.

The mistake we as parents made thinking our children are spoiled because we didn’t abuse them. Lord help us.. if I treated my children the way I was treated. It was bad enough that ND and NM took away my boundaries (violated them repeatedly) and then confused me with a bunch of head games. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get my life to go halfway decently.. it was a miracle I survived into adulthood.

so, if i understand him correctly, grounding left him well grounded…
