I wasn’t familiar with the word burdock, but figured it had to be a type of burr, a word more common here in Connecticut. (Burr Pond, Burrville, etc.)Per Google, it is — it’s another name for Arctium … a biennial native to Europe and Asia.

I was more familiar with sandburs. Much smaller and easier to find with bare feet.
