Building on my comment from yesterday, I don’t suppose it would help Mr. Montahue to know that this year I e-filed my tax returns (both federal and state) on February 16 and my refunds were both direct deposited on February 24.
Might as well fill out the forms earlier and get it over with, because the anxiety is worse. If you owe, you can wait to mail them. Save up if you have to. If you get a refund then you mail for it and can get that sooner.
Here we have evidence that these cartoons are done well ahead of publication date, since many, many comments on yesterday’s strip pointed out that, in 2023, the filing deadline has been moved to Tuesday April 18.
I try to file as soon as I get my W-2 forms. I find not-doing-my-taxes to be too annoying. I want to get back to not-writing and not-painting, as soon as possible. :)

Why don’t you just do it already and get it over with? You don’t have to wait for the deadline (I’m guessing, I am not American)

Can’t be much work for Monty to file. Just a single guy.

Decades ago, April 15th was March 15th. And now Friday the 13th falls on a Thursday.

He should look on the bright side. He has 3 extra days this year.

Husband is laid off and took that opportunity as an early retirement. He finished the taxes months ago.

Monty, just fill out that post card, like The Messiah promised.

Tax Panic overwhelms all other emotional responses at tax time (though this year it is the 18th of April rather than the 15th).
But, yes, it was a beautiful sunset….

Tax day should be moved to the day before Election Day.
And taxes shouldn’t be withheld. You figure your taxes and pay, once a year.
