Contrast today’s strip with the one from yesterday. There is a world out there in the Garfield universe which does in fact exist beyond Garfield’s bed and his food-dish. I am interested in that world and the characters which populate it (some of whom were shown yesterday). What I am not interested in are mindless jokes about food and sleeping. So, I guess that either – a) This strip needs a new writer who will make full use of the characters and potential in the strip, or b) Garfield is just not for me. I have a feeling, though, that readers enjoyed yesterday’s strip and would prefer all the Garfield strips to be like it, rather than like today’s cut-and-paste same ol’, same ol’.

But once you get out of bed, it officially, undeniably, becomes Monday.

Eat breakfast at 11:59pm, Sunday. Then you wont have to worry about that. Better yet, train Jon to serve it to you in bed.

His tummy will force him out of bed and get breakfast.

I swear we’ve seen this exact strip before. And on a Monday, too.

Is it just me or does it feel like garfield has stayed in character for like, i don’t know like 40 years?
