Count your blessings that coach didn’t make you catcher.

    Better than wrong field.

My best position was left out.

Ahhh love that song…. “Here in right field, it’s easy you know, you can be awkward, you can be slow, that’s why I’m here in right field, just watchin’ the dandilions grow…..” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXVnb0wveRg

I was a catcher in women’s baseball. Never had to cut-off an attempted steal. No one could run that fast, so no one tried to steal a base. I did have to deal with cat-calls when I crouched behind the plate. Morons! lol

I remember when my younger son was in Little League; there were boys in the outfield playing marbles! He wasn’t one of them.

…until a lefty walks up to the plate with a man on first and second. Then it’s the most important position out there.

Some of the best hitters played right field.

In Little League right field is where the worst player (other than the bench) is put because most hitters are right-handed (and more likely to hit to left field) and they don’t hit the ball very far. In more advanced leagues the weak outfielder is usually put in left field as the throws to the bases is shorter and you want a better fielder and thrower in right field.

as a high school baseball coach i have found that right field is quite important because most high school right handed hitters can’t ‘get around’ on a right handed pitcher so right field gets a lot of play…and having a right fielder with a strong arm is also important because there are a lot of plays at the plate attempts from right field as coaches will send runners from second to home to test the arm strength of the fielder… TMI ?…

Left field is where they hide a player. Right field is very important.
