It’s possible to make the same announcement in more than one venue, you know. Oh wait, no they didn’t know that. Neither one of them is particularly bright.
I don’t see any conflict between Mxx’s intention to promote the Valentine’s re-opening on sociable media and the community paper’s covering the event as “local news.” So why does it sound like Skippy’s trying to sell Mxx on the idea that his paper is better than online media? Could it be the purpose of his visit is not to gather news, but to convince Mxx to buy an ad? Maybe one disguised as a “local news story”?
Our local paper was an evening edition, except for Sunday’s. When I was kid. Now gone full circle. Now USPS delivers. Its back to being an evening edition, including Sunday. Which is delivered on Sunday.
Yeah, hippies, why utilize that fancy-schmancy social media stuff which reaches millions everywhere, simultaneously, when you can let Skip Bittman here write down your story and publish it in his podunk Penny Saver paper? You know, the paper which already was down to a single employee and on the brink of extinction after a hedge fund bought it for its assets, and which Skip Tomylou ripped off the name of? Why, the circulation must be in the dozens based on the handful of Centerville residents who attended the restart meeting, and they’re the target demo for nightly screenings of “The Phantom Empire.”
It’s too bad they don’t have any connections in the TV industry where they could promote this place. You know, like the TV station that they are such valued employees that they were begged to return? Or has the fact that they’ve forgotten to show up at work for the past half year or so been a blemish?

Trying to turn away free local media exposure maybe shows us how these two ran the theater into the ground once before.

I thought some wall-streeters bought the newspaper, a while back. The old editor went to their offices and got the cold shoulder.
