Just a thought concerning a slightly different cloud: “The Cloud” is not a fluffy grey/white amorphous object floating in the sky above your head. Instead it consists of hundreds of thousands of data centers, aka “server farms,” located all over the world and connected via the internet.
“Cloud storage” is a method of storing computer data in logic pools (i.e., the cloud). The physical environment storing all that data is generally owned and managed by a hosting company (the provider). The storage space allotted to each used may be spread across multiple servers, sometimes in multiple locations.
The hosting company/provider is responsible for keeping the data available and accessible (for the individual people and organizations who rent the storage capacity and own the data stored) as well as keeping the physical environment(s) secured, protected, and running.

It’s fun to watch clouds change shapes as they drift across the sky.
