Panel one: “on your chair”; “I am”; that should’ve raised Mom’s hackles right there and re-preposition to “in”. Advantage … Alice!

My mother had an unruly student who was standing up on his chair. She told him to sit down. He complied and gave the following retort: I’m sitting down but on the inside I’m standing up!
