That insane combination of thought flitted through my mind last night as I drove home from supper at a friend’s house. There are several gas stations on the homeward journey, proximity depending on the route. I chose the longer overall route, but the closest station. A sigh of relief.
Three kinds of people, if that’s below a quarter tank it’s not my car. I fill up at about a half. My first engineering job was fuel level sensors, after seeing the (in)accuracy of fuel level measurement I decided to never let it get close. (note, that was the accuracy level as of 20+ years ago, I don’t know if it’s improved).
I always figure that there are two kinds of people. Those who ask, “What time is it?” and those who wear a watch. I guess it’s not as accurate now that our cell phones can provide the time, but I find generally people who were in the first group to begin with don’t change. They still ask.
My personal experience tells me that there are two kinds of people… those who believe that “there are two kinds of people”, and those who know that there are many kinds of people.

We tend to drive longer distances to get anywhere, so we fill up at a half tank, not this panic-inducing low.

the two kinds of people are apparently 1) those who curse when they look at the fuel gauge and 2) those who don’t…
