    Lightning Bug or Fire Fly? Here in the Suncoast of FL it’s lightning bug with many but fire fly is also fairly common; maybe 60% lightning bug and 40% fire fly. how about where you are?

    Growing up in Illinois , we called them lightning bugs. The glow worms that live in caves are not the same thing at all.

    In Central New York, we called them lightning bugs. Once, when the conditions were just right, I saw something amazing. Actually saw a mushroom sprout out of the ground. It took only seconds to form.
