One son lives nearby. If I buy any tools I buy two sets and give him a set. Solved the “borrow” problem.

Except for that floor jack I lent him in 1998. “I’ll bring it over when you need it.”….

When it’s your best pliers you don’t forget. Or forgive.

    Never borrow, nor lend!

I lent my favorite hardbound book to a friend….my name was inside. After about 3 weeks, I asked her if she liked the book, and need to give it to another friend to read. She said, oh I gave it to my neighbor to read, and I’ll get it back. Well, after asking 3-4 more times, I gave up…. I realized Ed I was never getting it back…☹️ irresponsible. So after that, I never lend.

There is a reason credit scores are a thing. It still irritates me that, back in the day when I first needed credit, banks refused to let us see our own credit scores. Also, back then, the kelly bluebook was some sort of secret resource that car dealers wouldn’t let the car buying/selling suckers see.

Maybe you can use the pliers as collateral.
