One son lives nearby. If I buy any tools I buy two sets and give him a set. Solved the ā€œborrowā€ problem.

Except for that floor jack I lent him in 1998. ā€œIā€™ll bring it over when you need it.ā€ā€¦.

    Never borrow, nor lend!

I lent my favorite hardbound book to a friendā€¦.my name was inside. After about 3 weeks, I asked her if she liked the book, and need to give it to another friend to read. She said, oh I gave it to my neighbor to read, and Iā€™ll get it back. Well, after asking 3-4 more times, I gave upā€¦. I realized Ed I was never getting it backā€¦ā˜¹ļø irresponsible. So after that, I never lend.

There is a reason credit scores are a thing. It still irritates me that, back in the day when I first needed credit, banks refused to let us see our own credit scores. Also, back then, the kelly bluebook was some sort of secret resource that car dealers wouldnā€™t let the car buying/selling suckers see.

Maybe you can use the pliers as collateral.
