There is some thought that the phrase “in the cards” originated from the reading of Tarot cards. Another similar phrase of “on the cards” (something I’d never heard of) is also attributed to the Tarot cards reading. Both appear to be slang.

To be fair, the desk should really read, “Inhuman Resources”. (As pretty much should they all.)

Okay, now I’m wondering who actually works in the tarot card industry and what the retirement plan looks like. I’d think their 401k would be awesome.
