Also comes back to what a neolithic culture would think of as a ‘world flood’. Their ‘world’ was the river valley they have settled in, not the big mostly round lump of rock they really live in. So a meteor strike in the sea down river causing a tsunami would cause a ‘whole world flood’. So would the breaking of a natural dam upstream.

And us idiots keep building cities on flood plains.

The flood myths were probably inspired by people discovering fossils of sea creatures on dry land. They correctly deduced that the area was once under water, but not knowing about plate tectonics, they could only explain that with a flood. (And those myths always had a boat because, well, how else would someone survive such a huge flood?)

Deities who are worth their salt are indifferent to humans except when they aren’t.

If we really are created in his image, then we are all doomed anyway so it doesn’t really matter.

So, if the whole land was all together, as some scientists say, back in the beginning, is it possible that the “world flood” really was the whole world? In Genesis Chapter 10, it talks about the descendants of Noah. And verses 21-31, it’s about Shems descendants. And verse 25, “And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.” So, after the flood, a few descendants down the road, the earth was divided. Not a million years ago, not a hundred thousand years ago. After the flood of Noah. Do I believe the Bible? Yes. I believe that when Adam and Eve was around, the world was all one piece of land. And after the flood, God divided it.

Old Testament God didn’t exactly kill 99% of humanity. It was more like 99.999%.
