At my former job, crew members used to greet me with, “Bob, How are You?!”, and then I’d start on how I’m feeling, aches, pains, emotions, etc…and then, of course, they’d say, “Hey, it’s just a greeting, we didn’t really want to know…”. One day I told them that if they didn’t want to know, change the greeting to something like, “Bob, glad you made it to work!”, then I wouldn’t be inclined to say anything other than “Thank You”.

Sam reminds me of Elliot Carlin (Jack Riley) from the Bob Newhart Show in the 70s. Bob’s patients were the funniest part of a very funny show.
