That’s in our genes and blood. We don’t ‘become’. We just are. We can’t help it. Or at least for any of us born past 1965.

Hmmm… suggesting you have no control, is no better than saying Cathy has no control over her shoe buying habits.. I call bs.

Irving was born WAY before 1965, but this strip has played around with reality so much that time in Cathy’s world has stopped moving in a linear fashion…

I’m done shopping a lot. Unless I’m looking for something specific, I look around once and I’m outta there.

This is one woman that absolutely hates to go shopping! Online shopping’s okay (although I don’t do much of that either). But actually physically leaving my house and walking into a store of any kind where it’s crowded, disorganized, maybe even dirty, then having to drive back home, unload the car and put everything away . . . I hate it. If I didn’t have to do it out of necessity at least once a month, I’d never go in another store as long as I lived!

If I could say one thing to Cathy it would be this: “As the late, great Albert Einstein is credited with saying . . . ‘the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’ After having known and dated Irving for years before breaking up, what, exactly, do you think might possibly be there now that wasn’t there before??? Wake up, dummy! There’s a reason why he’s your EX boyfriend!!!!! Don’t make the same mistakes all over again just because you’re desperate! It’s better to be alone than wish you were alone . . .” (yadda, yadda, yadda). Of course, she probably wouldn’t listen to me anymore than she’s now listening to Charlene but I’d still give it a try all the same. Who knows? Someone’s good advice might actually sink in for a change!

Well, we all know she married him anyway, so why are we bothering to give advice?
