Had some neighborhood kids do that when my kids were in HS. I went out the back door and around the side into the shadow. When they came out from the bushes across the street I sprinted across the street towards them expecting they would out run me (they were teens and I was in my 40’s). They split in opposite directions. I continued after one and was only about 4 feet away and thought “crap, I’m going to catch him”. So I turned around and started after the other one who was definitely faster and was able to “get away”. Though, I admit I knew where he ducked an hid. Pretended like I lost him and headed back home.Point was made. The kids NEVER did it again and when my daughter told them her dad let the one get away because I didn’t want to hurt them, just realize it was dangerous to do stuff like that, he was VERY embarrassed.

No harm intended. It was meant just for fun. It’s all good … this time.

We used to call it “ring and run.”

Actually, some of my classmates called it by a very offensive term that I shall not repeat.
