Cathy Classics by Cathy Guisewite for March 14, 2012
Transcript:
Woman: Irving calls three times a day?? Cathy: He's just checking on his dog. It doesn't mean anything. Woman: It means he's getting used to calling! When a man gets used to calling, you become part of his daily routine! Be part of a man's routine, and you're part of the precious structure that validates his whole existence! Don't you see where this could lead?? Cathy: 2:00pm. Right on schedule. Woman: Women fall in love. Men fall in habit.

Charlene the Enabler. But there might be a small grain of truth in this. But twice a day makes more sense; when Cathy is at home in the a.m. and again in the p.m. to talk to Vivian. Calling at 2:00 p.m. — hmmmm.
Â
Morning lightenup not too far behind. Morning Susan I feel for Vivian too. But she loves him anyway apparently. Hi fellow Cathyites near and far. Off to Day 1 of Hazmat training.

Wow, take it easy, Irving. We know you have a thing for Cathy, but it’s bordering on disturbing. And Cathy has her enabler friends to encourage her wild thoughts, so she doesn’t need any help there.Good morning, Susan and Aaron! Hope Hazmat training goes well, Aaron.Hello to GsMom, Billy, KFG, gmforde, rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!

Love Charlene’s eyeroll! I think calling once a day would be excessive. He could always email her for a report. Cathy has a weird sense of commitment.

This is hysterical! My boyfriend courted me with 11:30pm phone calls every night. We’ve been married 34 years. Talk about habit!

Maybe Irving, but not Aaron and me. We revel in being unpredictable. This morning I said good morning to Aaron in Italian. When he gets home later, it’ll be in French. Maybe German. I dunno yet.
Â
Hello late day/evening Cathyites. I hope all is well.

Irving should learn Italian. Billy can teach him. ti amo at 6:00 a.m. is as good as it gets for me.
Â
Hi Mom! Hey rgcviper how goes life? lindz.coop missing you when you’re not here. I don’t usually see night crew posts until early a.m. This week I have training all day and then I’m home at night. I love it enough to consider the day shift, but my experience says the most needy live at night, sadly. The most needy and I seem to get along pretty well.

Although it probably seems weird to people who aren’t dog “parents” like some of us here, I can totally understand Irving calling daily to check on his dog while he’s away. I would too if that were me. But what makes absolutely no sense is calling Cathy 3 times a day — including at 2:00 p.m. everyday while she’s at work — to check on Vivian. Since Cathy isn’t home at that time, what could she possibly say to update him regarding how Vivian is doing? I agree with Aaron on this one . . . Irving should call in the a.m. to “talk” to Vivian before Cathy leaves for work and then call again in the p.m. to “talk” to her once more right before they all go to bed for the night.

Good evening, Aaron, Dr. Billy, lightenup, K.F.G. (wherever you are!), Susan, rgcviper, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, Mona, hendelca, lindz.coop, Spider and all the rest of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here tonight. As always, good to “see” you all!rgcviper almost 13 years ago
The first time I read this one, I thought Charlene was bordering on obsessive. The second time, though, I kinda saw her point. What’s wrong with me??
@AaronThanks for the shout-out! Things are busy as usual, but at least I have the great group here to take me away from life for a while. How are things for you? Hope your training goes well, too.
Hello, everyone.

Whoops, sorry fellow Cathyites — I got so caught up in all the hundreds of Doonesbury comments, I forgot to write on Cathy’s last night. My bad!!
If it wasn’t Irving, I would say he is not really calling about Vivian and really wants to know if Cathy is missing him but, alas, it IS Irving, so zap that theory.
I hope your training is going well Aaron, and your language skills too Billy.

Hey everyone! This is really bugging me about KFG, but maybe I’m the only one… Billy, is there an easy way to see which hospitals in Alberta that have an ER doc with a first name of Elizabeth, or are there too many hospitals? Not sure what I would do after that, but still… KFG, what’s going on with you?? Busy with work or did something happen in Chicago?p.s. If I’m gone for longer than a week without warning, you all have permission to bug me and find out what happened. I would be honored that people miss me and are thinking of me…
