Transcript:
Cathy: I can't wear bare legs and open-toed sandals to the office! Girl: Why not? Cathy: It isn't professional! I don't care how relaxed the dress codes are, bare legs and toes will never be professional! Girl: Why not? Cathy: You're too young to understand what women went through to be taken seriously in business! Let me speak to someone who's been in the trenches! Let me speak to the manager!! Saleswoman: What's up, honey?

There goes the womenâs movement.

Cathy is absolutely right on this one. I remember once I was at a party wearing a sundress and someone I worked with complimented me on it and asked why I never wore it to the office. Same reason I donât wear anything that bares my shoulders in church. I donât look down on those who do, but I simply canât do it. Couldnât do it when I was in my 20âs and 30âs, and still canât.

See? Aaronâs theory at play again â everyone around Cathy is a nutjob. Poor girl, she doesnât stand a chance at being normal all the time. lightenup if youâre done with the brain bleach . . . GIMME! Panel 4. Argh, my eyes!!
Â
Off to my lab for a while. I was going to sleep in this morning but Iâve been up since 6:30. Sigh. LMB will keep me company at work this morning.

Times change so quicklyâŠwhen was this strip written? 5 years ago? bare legs and toes, and bare belly buttons are all over the place. Professional?
gmforde almost 13 years ago
Bare legs and bare toes by either sex is unprofessional, except in California, unless by now theyâve gone back to more ânormalâ attire. Itâs also distracting. This outfit is âprofessionalâ in one sense, if you walk the street for a living. I guess the salesladies forgot about dress codes. That âcareerâ outfit is a joke. In the places I worked in, the person wearing that outfit wouldâve been sent home to change, or she would have been given a reprimand. Cathy is finally showing some common sense. :-)

Iâm in my 20âs and in my third year of law school. It baffles me what passes for professional dress these days. Iâm a bit of a prude, I admit, but all my skirts and dresses come to my knees, and I never go without hose or tights. I also donât wear open toed shoes or platform stilettos. The thing that really kills me is that these educated, professional women dress provocatively then complain about not being taken seriously or being objectified. Take yourself seriously girls! I got to where I am by my brain, not my body, and Iâll be darned if Iâm going to undermine my own accomplishments by âaccessorizingâ with cleavage!

Good morning everyone. Will someone explain to me the extreme difference in male and female fashion? Men wear layers of loose â to the point of falling off â heavy fabric, giving away no hint of the shape of the body underneath. Females wear very thin, skin tight, barely covering the necessary parts, revealing all.I think in the interest of fairness we should reverse the process for a while. The only place to see any male skin these days is WWE

@Tara â this version of Cathy is from 2001.
Â
I like that EMS crew has to wear the same uniforms, male or female. The last thing we need is distractions, but trust me that Iâve seen a lot of nekkidness in my life. Billyâs office crew and lab crew dress pretty sensibly. There is the odd man out (or woman) once in a while, but itâs rare.
Â
Billy up at 6:30 on a Saturday - geez bud, you really do hate âhome aloneâ huh? :( Me too, so I understand. Hello fellow Cathyites Half a day of training today. Yesterdayâs surprise drill was a controlled explosion (that we didnât know about) during our train derailment exercise. Iâm almost ready for anything at this point.
Â
Mom! I think you just needed a /h1 or /h2 (in brackets of course) to get back to normal text size. But thanks for that large hello. :-D

Oh geez, weird formatting again. And it got me âbetween the eyesâ too.

Hi everyone! My routine is so thrown off here. I slept in a little this morning, but since thereâs no computer in the kitchen, I couldnât read comics while eating breakfast. Here you go, Billy, hereâs the brain bleach⊠Hopefully weâre done for the week. ;-)Good for you, notinksanymore and others for having standards! I cringe anytime I see someone who is wearing clothes that are too casual at work. Iâve always worked at software companies, so the dress code is relaxed but Iâve always worn nice pants and a nice top. Iâm not a fan of dresses or skirts, so that is my compromise. Iâm also a fan of uniforms at school, but thatâs a hard sell.p.s Iâm trying to find time to get lightenup jr to respond to all of her birthday wishes, so I apologize that weâre really late on that.

Itâs gonna be a long day of shopping, Cathy.
Hello, everyone.

And have you seen what they are selling as little girlsâ clothes nowadays? They look like mini street walkers. It is hard to find affordable modest clothes; my child ended up insisting on jeans and tees for every day, and not tight ones either.

Aack!!!!! That managerâs hideous, skimpy outfit makes me want to borrow some of lightenupâs âbrain bleachâ to scrub this awful picture out of my head . . . unfortunately, Iâm afraid it wouldnât help as this whole scene is now permanently burned onto my poor corneas! Ouch!!! Ouch!!! The pain!!!!!
Â
Happy Saturday, Aaron, Dr. Billy, lightenup, K.F.G., Susan, Mona, lindz.coop, rgcviper, hendelca, summerdog, gmforde, soonergal, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare and all the rest of the âCathyâ fanatics joining us here tonight. As always, good to âseeâ you all!Â

Hi Cathyites!! I too need the brain bleach!! OMG is she hideous! I go back to the days when we couldnât even wear slacks to work â let alone the stuff I see today (and I DID wear minis, so Iâm not that much of a prude). I went to a dance performance tonight and there were several in the audience wearing a skirt that didnât cover their rear end when they stood up. This coupled with 6 inch stilettos was simply overwhelming â especially watching the perpetual tugging at the skirt:(
