I don’t think I believe her.

Oh, pu-leeze! Hero?? That’s like saying you’re a celebrity these days. “Reality” TV has over-inflated people’s egos so much, it’s ridiculous…Hi everyone!! I’m back! I need to go back and read the past week of comments, but I’m sorry I was out of the picture. By the time I was able to get to the computer, it was late and it was next to my kids’ bedroom and oddly enough, the keyboard was the loudest thing ever! CLACKCLACKCLACK!! Anyway, I’m glad to be back! I hope everyone had a lovely Easter, if you celebrate, and Passover, if you celebrate, and Spring Break, if you had one.Good morning, Susan! I’m sorry you’re still having water issues!! I thought they’d be resolved at this point… That sucks. I remember our sewer line broke on a Friday after 5pm, and we had to deal with that all weekend. It’s amazing how much you miss it. We couldn’t even brush our teeth or wash dishes. Yuck.Good morning, Aaron! I hope you had a great time at training and the Eastern Shore (Ocean City? Rehobeth? Annapolis?)!@ Mona – I don’t either… She just wanted some attention, as usual. Cathy won’t look good with a Pinocchio nose. I’m also gonna stand far away from her in case a lightning bolt descends. I have no desire to be a crispy critter.

 

Great news Susan. We too have always been blessed when it comes to fixes around home. The first and last one (so far) was when our gas heat went out in January. It too was an easy fix.

 

YAY LIGHTENUP!! Welcome back. We go to Deal Island, little over 3 hours from home. http://www.dealislandmaryland.com/ No crowds like Ocean City or Rehobeth. We barely have electricity at Deal Island. Annapolis, which we love, is good for a day trip or overnight.

Wow! She had an open box of Girl Scout cookies in her car for 3 weeks and only ate 4 of them?!?!?! That’s quite impressive! If it’s true then I’m very proud of our girl Cathy today and it’s not often I can say that . . . and really mean it without rolling my eyes and saying it sarcastically too!

Susan: Glad to hear your water problem finally got fixed! We went without power for 8 days after Hurricane Ike back in 2008 but at least we still had water (which was a real blessing). Thankfully the weather was nice so we weren’t hot or cold . . . we had plenty of candles to see by when it got dark . . . a generator turned on periodically kept our refrigerator and freezer foods from spoiling . . . and we grilled out every night. But having to go someplace like my mother’s house to shower and only be able to brush my teeth once a day because we didn’t have water all that time too? That would have been absolutely unbearable! Glad you made it through your ordeal.

Hi, Aaron! Glad you liked the Snoopy and Winnie-The-Pooh Easter wishes I sent you!

Aaron and I pretty do what it says in panel 1. He makes less $$ than I do (there’s no justice in that, btw — especially since he really does two jobs) but gets a nicer refund. We do have mutual funds that we just put money into. If they do well, all the better. However, I would never eat 3 week old Girl Scout cookies that have been open. Talk about stale and a half.

 

Hello rgcviper, lindz.coop, and the evening crew. Aaron is back to work and I’m about to go play some street hockey at GWU. LMB needs to be wound up a bit so he’ll sleep tonight. GsMom! your Easter pics for Aaron were great. The look on his face when he saw them was priceless. Nice going!

Don’t know about the cookies, none ever made it that long at our house. That’s why I don’t buy them anymore.

Hi everyone again! Thanks for the nice “welcome back”s! :-) I missed checking comics every day and “talking” with everyone.My break was pretty busy, with a mix of being a tourist and doing family things. My kids and I took some trips to DC to the museums, which they really loved (especially Metro… they’re becoming quite the city kids). We went to the American History, Natural History and Air & Space museums. To my surprise, they enjoyed American History the most and seemed to get a lot out of it. I’ll have to take them back there on our next trip. The family part was more bittersweet and emotional for me. We took a 2 day side trip to PA where my mom is from, and visited the farm where she grew up, the schoolhouse where she attended K-8 (she was a minor celebrity on our visit because there are few who still live there from so long ago and they had 4 photos of her as a child – so wonderful to see!), and the farm where my 6th great-grandfather had his first farm in the early 1700’s. It was absolutely beautiful there, and it meant a lot to see everything especially because my mom’s health is declining. The sad part was seeing the farm where she grew up because the owner who my grandfather sold it to has really done a terrible disservice to it and it has really declined. This was heartbreaking to me because it was a dream of mine to buy it one day and get it back in the family. But the condition of the house, barn and other building is so bad, it would be a money pit just to get it habitable. It was also heart wrenching to listen to my mom describe all of the animals and crops they once had there because I could tell how much it all meant to her and now it’s just a rotting mess. Sad…We also visited my dad’s side of the family, who are DC natives after his parents immigrated in the early 1900’s. I saw my great-grandparents graves in DC and we did some geneology research. On that side, I still have some relatives in the DC area who remember a lot, so that was nice. I guess you could say I’m a typical American mutt, with one side of my family that goes back to the colonial times and the other side that are more recent immigrants. I’m proud of both sides and it was nice to visit/remember them all and share them with my kids (whether they remember or not). Anyway, thanks for letting me share with you all… it was quite a trip!

Now THAT’S something to be proud of, Cathy—seriously. My box of Thin Mints had gone after a week or a week and a half. lol. (Hope you found a way to keep the cookies fresh, though.)
