In fairness, I seem to remember buying a 2 gig PC for over $1,000 back in the day (I think earlier, less powerful computers cost even more, but I don’t have numbers for them). My 256 mg iPad cost a fraction of that.
Come to think of it, I suspect the higher price tag has little to do with the actual size/power of the device and much more to do with how much advantage it gives you over the next guy.
