Women: We want to know why it's called a "pink" slip. blonde woman: Men own most of the companies...Men hold most of the top-paying jobs... Charlene: Men have most of the power, and make most of the decisions, including who stays and who goes... Andrea: Business is still a male-dominated, male-controlled, male-brained universe... Women: ...So why, when someone is laid off, is the slip called "pink"- the one color associated with females?? Cathy: At least you could call it a "blue" slip. Mr. Pinkley: The thanks we get for trying to include the girls...

Sad truths for sure. I could never work in Corporate America. Medicine has a fairer distribution of female to male and not so many chances at a power play. I’m blessed to be a part of a team making a future generation who won’t know what cancer is (he says hopefully).
Willi Nilli at 2:00 a.m. you’re likely to bump into legaleagle48. Aaron works from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (in theory) and by 2:00 a.m. I’m long gone into dream land. Time for LMB and me to go play. Friend Aaron and I had an early breakfast and now he’s comatose. :-)

Rumor has it that pink slips came from the copy of the form that the soon-to-be-former employee got. But of course, Cathy has to spin it around and make it all about men vs. women. Sigh…Good morning, Willi Nilli, Susan and Billy! @Willi Nilli – Thanks for yesterday’s message – looks like we’re almost neighbors! I didn’t realize there are so many fires down there. I guess it’s everywhere and water is a valuable commodity that everyone sorely needs.Hello to Aaron when you wake up! Hi to GsMom – I hope your mom feels better soon, but we’re glad to have you here today!Greetings to rgcviper, lindz.coop, hendelca, Mona, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, gmforde, soonergal, lippyfish, Mai Tai and all the other Cathy nuts rolling around here today!p.s. lightenupjr keeps posting, but I’m guessing they won’t approve her until Tuesday.

I wonder if Mr. Pinkley refers to the men who work for him as “the boys”……

Y’know, for once, they have a good point.
Or, it could just be a big coincidence.
Either way, hope you’re all enjoying your long weekend.

Susan is right, 9 to 5-style is the right way to deal with Mr P. He sure can be a dope.
Raspberry Almond Torte anyone? It’s my signature dish, though mine isn’t as fancy schmancy as this.

“The Girls”, Mr. Pinkley? Really?!!! Seriously???!!! What a doofus! “The Girls” are the only ones who seem to be doing all the work around there . . . especially with all the lay-offs your company has been doing lately! You need a good slap upside the head then you need to go and spend a day or 2 in classes regarding sexual harassment, workplace equality, etc., etc., etc. Maybe it would give you a new appreciation for the female population you have working for you around there. On second thought, male chauvinists like you never get it no matter what anyone says! You say you do — but you really don’t.
Aaron: You’re absolutely killing me! What I wouldn’t give to live close by you — not only to have the privilege of personally knowing 2 such special people but to also (hopefully!) get just a bite of the heavenly confections you and Dr. Billy are always making for each other! Life would be soooooooo good! Where do you get all your recipes anyhow? Handed down from family members? A favorite cookbook? Website? Just wondering (and hoping you’ll share if it’s possible)!!!!!
;-)
lightenup: Thanks! My mom’s doing a little bit better every day but you know how it is. Someone goes out and spreads the “joy” around when they should have had enough sense to stay home instead . . . then the rest of us catch their icky germs and we’re sick for 2 or 3 weeks too. Only problem is, my mother will be turning 76 soon and I worry about the possibility that what starts out as a simple cold might turn into pneumonia one of these days. Extremely selfish, if you ask me.
Good evening, to the 3 of you, lightenupjr., K.F.G., Susan, lindz.coop, rgcviper, gmforde, hendelca, serenasakitty, kittcatpawsare, Gator007, legaleagle48, Willi Nilli and all the REST of the “Cathy” nuts hanging out here with us this evening. Wow! It sure feels strange to be here tonight but it’s a good kind of strange because I really miss you guys when I’m not able to be here . . . so it’s really good to “see” you all! Tomorrow is Memorial Day so please, don’t forget to take time out from whatever it is you’re doing to remember all the veterans — past and present — who’ve given their lives for all the freedoms we enjoy today
