I so love this strip! We had a cat, we called him critter. He was. He grew up with a black lab puppy. they were besties. Slept together and everything. Floof and Sirius remind me of those two. Not sure if Floof would get peas or potatoes like Critter did though. He was a magnificently strange little man.
Floof’s wish to be a Lion is a tribute to my late, lovely kitty girl Gizmo, who died after a long battle with cancer. Her epitaph was ‘she had the soul of a lion in that frail cat body.’
Today is my birthday and tomorrow my Bunny the Beagle turns 13 years old. Our birthdays are one day apart. Tomorrow is our hospital day for her therapy dog work. Someone in another comic accused me of virtue signaling for mentioning that my dog is a therapy dog. He also found it disgusting that I take a dog into the hospital, as if I take her there against the rules and without permission. The staff, patients, and visitors in general love seeing our dogs, and the volunteer office loves our dogs, but require extensive training and certification. We have probably a dozen dogs who go regularly and it’s not uncommon for us to see patients who we have seen before, and they are so excited when they see us again. If that is virtue signaling, then I am guilty. I ran into some new neighbors last night on a dog walk. One of them worked at our hospital, and she told me how much the visits meant to them. She has a new puppy and I suggested maybe she consider training her dog for therapy work. Her face lit up at the idea. More virtue signaling, I guess. We back off immediately from any signs that people don’t like dogs or just are too tired or are afraid. We are there to make people happier and more comfortable, so if they aren’t interested in dogs, we politely move on. I always ask about allergies, especially when getting on an elevator with other people.

The coat definitely looks better on Floof. I can practically hear her roar from here.
And Sirius is so sweet to play along. What a great pair.

Would LOVE to see a comic strip about when Sirius and Floof were newborn. Plus when Kate got Shawm and Stella.
