When someone brings donuts to work (or cookies, or homemade bread, etc.), I never can say “No thanks!” And I used to sneak candy out of my kids’ Halloween buckets, too. It’s situations like this that caused me to gain a little too much weight when I was working. Once I got laid off, I was able to lose all the extra weight fairly easily because we don’t keep that kind of stuff in our house — it’s just too tempting! (That was 11 years ago.)

Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed goodies at work as it has been a few years, but my mind is on all of the people affected by this storm. We are getting high winds in Kentucky today, just slammed my storm door open at the front of the house. I had to lock it to keep it closed!!
Hi Cathyites!! I hope everyone is safe, dry and warm!! I can relate to this both from the side of working in a social service agency with mostly women and everyone brought goodies from home daily. I confess I also send all the Halloween treats to work with my husband on Nov 1 — so I don’t get into them:)
No office food from other people here- on of the disadvantages of having an office at home! But, my wife does occasionally bring me a treat (and I know where the goodies are stored) but I don’t dare touch the Halloween treats (I think she counts them). I hope all the Cathyites are safe from Sandy. We are having higher than normal winds way up here in NE Ontario but it snowed instead of rained. I remember (a little) hurricane Hazel way back in 1956 and even though we just caught the tail end, it was still bad so I am not looking forward to the weather for the next couple of days! Stay safe everyone!

This was part of why I liked to visit my aunt at her workplace, (I’d go with my sister and mom). Free food from office gatherings.
